A radio operator at the Antarctic research station received a transmission signal, which made her suddenly pull off her headphones. She rushed to the window. A mile away on an ice shelf, some enormous object was rising from below, cracking the surface into a perfect circle. As the ice shelves began to collapse, the horizon tilted.
