Japanese Inn Miniature

The architectural blueprint of a traditional Japanese inn is laid out on the drawing table, elevating the space into a livable miniature model. In the tatami-matted guest room, futons and low tables are laid out, and a traveler in a yukata is gazing at the dry landscape garden under construction. The spacious hot spring bath features cypress tubs and bamboo spouts, where an elderly guest quietly soaks in the water, steam rising gently. In the kaiseki restaurant, lacquerware trays are placed on cushions, and the warm light of lanterns streams in through the paper shoji windows. The wall exists both as a line and as a physical partition. The lines of sight drawn on the floor plan become the real landscape between spaces. People's movement traces show faint traces. Figures on the architectural scale become residents living tiny lives, and the cross-sectional drawings reveal vertical relationships. Construction tools such as scale rulers and pencils are placed around the scene.
