Cosmic Convenience Store

A cinematic anime film still in the muted, live-action style of MAPPA's Chainsaw Man. A woman in her late twenties — warm tan skin, wavy dark brown hair, tired kind eyes, an oversized hoodie and sweatpants — stands alone in the fluorescent-lit aisle of a 24-hour convenience store in the small hours, holding a basket, quietly considering the snacks. But through the store's windows there is no street — only the infinite starry void of deep space, distant nebulae and a lone planet drifting past, the whole store floating alone in the cosmos. Framed at eye level down the bright aisle, neat rows of products, a humming drink fridge, cold tiles, black star-filled windows all around. Cold flat fluorescent light inside against the deep starry black outside, soft shadows, a muted desaturated grade, fine film grain and faint haze. Quiet, lonely, contemplative and gently surreal.
